Sharons testimony!
I am a 69 year old wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 5 who has struggled her entire life with weight and body image. I was the overweight grade school girl who was teased every chance someone had to do so. I decided when I graduated from 8th grade, I would not enter high school being "fat". That summer, I started pushing back from the table and lost an incredible amount of weight entering 9th grade at a respectable 125 pounds. I managed to keep the weight off until my first child was born a few years later. Most of my life consisted of yo-yo dieting to stay at a respectable weight but had always had a negative body image. I never considered exercise as part of my well being until this past summer when my daughter invited me to "boot camp". I have to admit, it was very difficult at first and I was unable to finish the sets in some cases (there was lots of panting Smile) but with encouragement and determination as time went on, I became stronger and more fit. With a little attention on what was going into my body, I was able to drop 12 pounds while building muscle and strength. I did not eliminate food groups and consider no food an enemy. I am convinced the muscle helps burn calories and keeps me at a comfortable weight. I feel good about myself (more confidence), got rid of sciatic nerve pain, leg pains (burning in calves while walking) and lowered my blood pressure and health risks. It became apparent to me that I need the presence of girlfriends to keep me motivated and on target so value the new friendships I have made along the way. I plan to keep attending Jen's camp as long as she will have me! :)
